He NEVER Disappoints!
Friday's Devotion (1-19-07)
"For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise." Hebrews 10:36 (KJV)
Some of us want things right away, and God will be the first to tell you that we don't always get things instantly. As a matter of fact, we usually have to wait for things that are worth waiting for. We do God's Will, and then we start asking, "Where is my reward that God has promised me for doing this thing?" You're not going to get it instantly, but you will get it... IF you are patient. I've noticed in my walk with God that the only things I have ever received instantly are things which I really needed instantly. The rest I had to wait for, the rest I had to be patient for!
What is patience? Here are some examples of patience from Dictionary.com:
| 1. | the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like. |
| 2. | an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay: to have patience with a slow learner. |
| 3. | quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence: to work with patience. |
Some of us say, "I have been patient and I still haven't received the promises of God!" There are two possible explanations for that. One: You didn't do the Will of God to receive the Will of God in your life. Two: You really weren't patient long enough, you lost your temper, you started complaining and you just stopped believing for the promises! You have to keep the patience for however long it takes to receive the promise that you are looking to receive. If you look at Moses' experience in the wilderness for 40 years, you will notice that the complainers and whiners (Those without patience,) never made it to the promised land! Only those with patience, only those who kept their faith in God made it! I don't know about you, but I want to make it to the promised land! Today is a good day to stop whining and complaining. Today is a good day to start building some patience so that we will be able to receive the promises of God. God wants you to have His promises, but He will not just give His promises to the ungrateful and to those who don't believe that they're worth waiting for. If you are patient then you will see that His promises ARE worth waiting for. You might wait for the newest technologies: Games, televisions, radios, and the list goes on... I guarantee that you'll find something you don't like about them once you receive them. You'll be disappointed in something, but when it comes to God's promises He NEVER disappoints! The things of the world will disappoint, but the things of God will not! Keep that in mind when you start losing patience.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to keep our patience and faith. Give us more patience and faith as well. Don't let us lack in these important areas. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
