Precious Time (Losing Loved Ones)
Tuesday's Devotion (5-2-06)
"We are confident, [I say], and willing
rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2
Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
I know how hard it is to lose a loved one, I've lost
several or have I? The way I figure is that we have to look at it in a different
light. I see it like this: I lost my brother in 1992, well he's on a trip, a
vacation if you will... Or is it me that's on a trip? I will return home one day
and I will see my brother again. He's not dead, he's just on the cruise of his
life. He's not dead because our God is not the God of the dead, but of the
living! He may be dead to you, but only because you can't see him. That doesn't
mean he isn't living some where else, a place with peace and comfort.
We should be happy for those that we've lost that were living in Jesus. But I do
know that it also hurts, it hurts because we miss them so much. We wish that we
could see them at least one more time and say what we need to say. But be
patient because we will see them again and when we do, there will be no more
good byes. There will be no more worries of death, or any worries at all. Hang
in there my friends and the reward will be worth the wait. Also, cherish your
time with your loved ones that you have with you. Tell them how you feel about
them, and if they haven't accepted Jesus Christ then tell them about Him. Stop
seeing your loved ones as "dead" and start seeing yourself on a long journey to
see them again. Life on earth is too short to live in regret or sadness. If we
continue to mourn over those that have gone before us, then we lose out on time
with those that are still here. Precious time.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Help us to move on with our lives and to have comfort. Don't let us waste our
precious time here. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
