Knowledge Is Power!

Friday's Devotion (4-28-06)

"Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth." John 9:41 (KJV)

I'm sure that you've all heard the phrase, "Ignorance is bliss." Well, sometimes it can be. I used to ignorantly use the Lord's name in vain, now that I'm aware of it I don't do it to the best of my ability. If I was to do it now, then I'd be held more responsible for it than I would've let's say 6 years ago. Because 6 years ago, I didn't know what I was doing! Has someone ever done something to you that they didn't know you don't like done to you? It's easier to forgive them if they didn't know, but it seems harder to forgive those that do it purposely. I mean we have to forgive all, but it's not as easy to forgive the ones that do wrong to us on purpose. When we get angry at those that don't do it (whatever it is,) on purpose and they say, "Sorry man, I didn't know..." then we feel like it's ok and we just say, "It's alright, I forgive you, you didn't know." For some reason that seems to be encoded in human nature. This is why - Ignorance is bliss!

Being ignorant can save us from a lot of trouble, but it also has a bad side... A side that makes it not worth being ignorant. If you're ignorant, and especially if you're ignorant by choice you will find yourself in a lot of sticky situations. Have you ever talked to someone that came to you solely because you're a Christian and they need answers? "What do I do? My life is falling apart!" I'm sorry, but being ignorant is not going to save marriages, it's not going to repair your car after you've been in a wreck and the list goes on of things that ignorance can't fix! In all these situations and more - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! Ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power. Also, if you're a Christian and if you're ignorant of the scriptures... That's laziness! That shows the Lord that you aren't serious about your walk with Him. Actually, if you don't know the scriptures you're not even walking with Jesus! To walk with Jesus is to live how He lived, and you can't do that without knowledge of how He lived. A closer walk with Jesus is well worth giving up our ignorance for.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive those who've wronged us. Help us to know you well, and don't let us be ignorant. Give us knowledge and wisdom that only you can provide. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
