Having a Deeper Life of Worship!
Wednesday's Devotion (4-26-06)
"Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and
give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness." Psalm 97:12 (KJV)
Let me encourage you to read the entire chapter of Psalms
97. Today's devotion is a request from a person who wants to, "Deepen their
worship life." Bless their heart for that, it's hard to find people that are
truly seeking to be closer with Jesus. I don't know why, but it seems very hard
and for that alone you are on the right track!
The first thing that I'm going to say is that, it's hard to worship someone you
don't know. So, if you don't study the Bible, you need to start! Without the
knowledge of the Bible, we can never have that deep worship life that we need.
We need to know who God is! That's the first step.
The second step is that we need to appreciate who God is. God sent His only Son
to die on a cross for our sins, because He loves us so much. That alone is
worthy of all our worship, but He has done so many other things and continues to
do them.
The next step is that you must always be thankful for His many blessings, and
even for the tribulations that we suffer. In other words - Don't complain! Don't
be a complainer.
Another thing is to make sure that you are clean in mind and soul. Stay away
from drugs, stop putting evil things into your eyes and ears. That means no more
horror movies, and no more perverse movies, etc. No more music that talks about
violence, sex, and profanity. There are plenty of godly things to watch when it
comes to television programs, and there is even more good Christian music to
listen to when it comes to music. KEEP YOUR MIND CLEAN!
Stay in prayer and be content. Stop wanting what you can't/don't have and start
being thankful for what you do have, and that's Jesus Christ! The Lord is all
you need and when you realize that, you'll be well on your way to the pearly
gates of Heaven!
The last thing that anyone should know is this: Worshipping isn't just about
singing to the Lord and going to church. Worshipping the Lord is living in His
image each and every day of your life! Worship is a way of life, and it's really
the only way to live.
Well, there it is. If this wasn't quite what you were looking for, feel free to
let me know and I'll try again. Also, if you feel like I left something out, let
me know.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive those who've wronged us. Help
us to worship you in truth and help us to love you with all our hearts. May our
worship life be more than pleasing to you. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
