Saturday's Devotion (4-15-06)

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

God has thoughts of peace towards all His children. He doesn't desire to harm any of us, like some would think. Some people think that God is just up there waiting to punish them for something. This is not so. The Lord prefers not to have to punish any of us, but due to His pure nature, He has no choice at times. People think that it's hateful that He sends people to Hell, people that don't accept His Son. Do you actually believe that He'd send people to Hell if He didn't have to? He sent His own Son to save us from HIS OWN judgment. It's like He was looking at a contract that told the way to Heaven and the way to Hell, and it's kind of like He found a loophole in there. He found a way that would allow more people into Heaven, and that way was to send His Son. He sent His own Son for you, so please don't accuse Him of being a hateful God. If anything it is us that are the hateful ones. It is us who have no appreciation for what He has done. When we accuse God of evil then we are unthankful and unholy. Consider this next time you accuse the Lord of hate... He has done nothing, but love us and it is not Him that hates us, some of us hate Him.

The only reason in my mind that someone would hate God is because they don't know God. They are ignorant to what God is really about. God corrects us while we're on earth in hopes that He won't have to do it in the after-life. Why do you think we have police that throw us in jail when we do wrong? Why is it that many prisoners accept Jesus Christ while in prison? Because sometimes correction brings redemption. Correction brings redemption when the corrected turn wise. Listen to the Lord, because the Lord would much rather correct you temporarily than He would eternally. Do you think that the Lord is going to be laughing at those souls in Hell? I don't think so. He's going to be shedding tears for them, because we are His creation. Nobody wants to have to destroy their own creation.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to obey you and help us to realize that you correct us because you love us. In Jesus name. A-men!
