Are You Reprobate? (Have You Committed The Unforgivable Sin?)

Saturday's Devotion (4-8-06)

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" 2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)

In order to be reprobate you'd have to be a person who refuses to accept Jesus Christ. In other words, you can't think that you're reprobate if you're reprobate. Why? Because you could care less, you would want nothing to do with Jesus Christ ever! The question that many believers ask is, "Have I committed the unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the Holy Ghost? Have I done it, and how can I know for sure?" God knows that I've battled with this one hard. But that's just it, I battled with it. I was worried about it, and if I had done it... I wouldn't care. Satan wants me to believe that I did it, and he wants each of you to believe that you've done it. If he can get you to believe it, then he's on the fast track to destroying your faith in Jesus Christ. If he destroys your faith in Christ, then your soul is also destroyed until you get that faith back.

Have you committed the sin, blasphemy against the Holy Ghost? Well, if you're here reading this and you've read this far... Then you're interested to find out if you have. If you're interested to find out, and if you're worried about it then you haven't! This isn't saying that every reprobate person has committed this sin either. You can become reprobate by continually refusing Christ. You can become reprobate by hardening your own heart by rebelling against the Lord. When you become reprobate that is the sign that God has given you up... Because you wanted it that way! God doesn't easily give up on us, He attempts to reach us over and over. I mean if you keep trying to call someone on the telephone and they NEVER answer, then you're going to stop calling. My brother NEVER answers, so I don't call him. If he wants to talk to me, he has to call me. That's the problem with being a reprobate, God has stopped calling... AND you don't have the power to call Him either. Thus making it so you can never be saved. I would also like to ask everyone not to judge people as being reprobate. We can never know when someone has crossed that line. We have to hope that every soul has not crossed that line. Just because you spoke to someone about Jesus and they didn't accept Him, that doesn't mean they are reprobate yet.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to stay close to you, and keep us safe. Also help us not to judge other people. Give us the comfort that we are under your protection and that we are saved, don't let us worry about becoming reprobate. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
