The Power To Change The World!
Saturday's Devotion (4-1-06)
"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same
with thanksgiving;" Colossians 4:2 (KJV)
Today's devotion is a very important message, at least it
is to me. I used to be a person who would call on God only when I needed help. I
wasn't the type to go in my room, get on my knees just to say, "Thank you for
your many blessings," and I wasn't the type to pray for the needs of other
people. I only called on God when I thought I needed Him. It shouldn't be that
way. We should always be in prayer. A day shouldn't go by where we haven't
talked to our creator about something, about anything. There is always a need
for prayer, a need to give thanks to God and a need to pray for others. Don't
believe me? Here's some examples of what our society needs prayer in:
1. In the United States many people don't agree with the actions of the current
President. Don't like his actions? Pray for the Lord to guide him!
2. Divorce is a serious problem among the entire world! I receive more prayer
requests for broken marriages than any other problem.
3. There are poor people starving in every city.
4. There is always someone being murdered.
I could sit here all day and write a list of prayers to pray. The bottom line is
that so many of us are neglecting our prayer lives, and it shows through world
events. Prayer is able to change the entire world, it's also able to change your
entire life! When you neglect prayer you also neglect a very powerful tool that
can be used to change everything! Praying may not make you famous, but it'll
definitely reap many rewards. No, you're not going to hear about the person(s)
who prayed for the speech that was made by Martin Luther King Jr. You're not
going to hear about the prayers that were made to stop Hitler... But I know that
someone prayed. And more importantly: God knows who did pray and who didn't!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to come to you with all things. Guide us and let us pray the
prayers that will change the world for the better. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
