Fear Not What Man Can Do Unto You!

Wednesday's Devotion (3-15-06)

"In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me." Psalm 56:11 (KJV)

This scripture definitely ranks high on my list of favorites. I can't help but to think of the times people have tried to intimidate me, or strike fear into my heart. It's kind of funny because you have those people that will get in your face and act all tough, but the minute you show them you're not afraid they back down. This says a lot about them, but it also shows us exactly how Satan is. The people that currently belong to Satan show Satan's behavior in the flesh, and the people who belong to Jesus show the behavior of Jesus Christ. Think about it, when you're attacked by Satan he acts all mighty and powerful... When you stand up to him and show that you know the Word of God, then he backs down for the time being. One time this guy got in my face to test me, and I let him know, "Hey, I can fight too if I have to." This was after he was bragging that he could win a fight against anyone. He tried to intimidate me and he saw that it wasn't working. He backed down. Satan twists the truth of God and he uses that as his tool to fight, but when we show him that we can fight back with the Word of God, he'll back down! He's just a coward disguised as someone with courage. He picks on the weak. The Bible says that Satan is as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. That right there tells you that he is a coward, he doesn't want to face people that will take him down with the power of Christ.

Basically, we don't need to fear anyone EXCEPT God. God is the one that can destroy our body and soul. Humans can't destroy our soul, and neither can Satan... But they can put so much fear into you that you give up on Jesus Christ and condemn your own soul. For example: You're walking in a dark parking lot to your car, you're wearing a Jesus T-shirt. Suddenly a man walks up from behind and puts a knife to your throat, "Take the shirt off, and deny Christ or die!" If you deny Christ, then Christ is going to deny you. So, the only option that is healthy for your soul is for your body to die, or for you to get free from this man, but getting away doesn't seem optional. In this situation many have died for Christ sake. Children in school are attacked by children with guns and asked, "Do you believe in God?" When they answer, "Yes," they are murdered in cold blood. It's not right that people do this to people, but you can rest assured that these childrens' souls are resting with the Lord. They didn't fear. If a child can be a hero for Jesus, then why can't we? These children are nothing less than heroes. They give us the courage to die for Christ if we have to. I think about it, and they definitely give me strength to die if I have to. If you're a parent of one of these heroic children, then I thank you for raising such wonderful children that have more courage than most grown men. Fear not what man can do unto you!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us not to fear anyone except you Lord. Don't let us live in fear, free us from all fears and lies of Satan. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
