What Makes You So Different?
Thursday's Devotion (3-2-06)
"For if ye love them which love you, what
thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them." Luke 6:32 (KJV)
You know what my problem is with some Christians? They
only love those that love them, or they only love other Christians. If you're
not a Christian, then they want nothing to do with you. They don't even want to
help you. You know why I have a problem with these types? Because it makes it
harder for us to bring non-believers to Jesus. One Christian reflects on all of
us. If one Christian acts horrible, then some people will take that as all
Christians are horrible. You're a representative of Jesus Christ, but you also
represent other Christians like myself. We are the body of Christ. Let's say for
a minute that I'm a hand, and you're the arm... What I do is definitely going to
reflect on you! And if my actions reflect on you, then you also reflect on
another part of the body and so on. It all goes back to representing Jesus as
the body of Christ. That's just something to think about.
When asked, "Where's the love?" Some Christians might say, "Well, I love my
family and friends." That's good, but that's not good enough. As a Christian
more is expected of you than other people. Like I said you're a representative
of Christ, and Christ loves everyone! So, in order to represent Him you need to
love everyone too. Not only that, but if you don't have the love of Christ, then
you can't make it to Heaven. We have two commandments that are the most
important of all the commands, "Love thy God with all your heart, mind and
soul," and "Love thy neighbor as thyself." This means with all things. For
example if you go to store and you see someone that needs help with a door or
with anything, then you should offer the help because you too would've liked
some help in that situation. If you see a hungry person feed them, because you
would've wanted to eat too. Treat no person like they are less than you, treat
others as you would like to be treated. I would also go as far to say: treat
them better than you want to be treated! What you do for one person today could
decide their entire future. One little thing could make a difference in
something major. If you continue only loving those who love you, or only loving
other believers... You have to ask yourself, "What makes me different than the
sinners out in the world?" The love of Christ is the only thing that makes us
different, the ONLY thing! Without it, you really don't have anything special.
Without it, you don't have anything that others don't.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to love everyone no matter what. Let that light shine in us, and
may everyone be able to tell that we are truly different than those in the
world. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
