You Have Hope!

Monday's Devotion (2-27-06)

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)

We have all been guilty at one time or another of being greedy, or being the opposite of content. We just need to get back on the right track again, we need to be thankful for what we have. "...For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." When it says, "Let your conversation be without covetousness..." I think it means don't be in want. Don't be unthankful and don't be a complainer. In other words, God doesn't want to hear you say, "Jim has a nice car, what do I have?" You have Christ, and when you say things like this then you insult Jesus Christ. Is He not good enough for you? Is He not all you need? Is He not the most important person/thing in your life? That's the question of the day.

As many of you know: I believe that when we're content we're not only happier people, but we receive more blessings than before. I truly believe that God wants us to first realize the importance of what we have BEFORE he blesses us with more. He wants us to appreciate Him, our families, our friends, our current living situation, and whatever else we have. If we're not content, and if we're not thankful then we will not receive more. However, if you try to be content only because you want more, then it's all in vain because you aren't really content. You have to be content for real and from the heart, not just by empty words. You have to realize that because you have Christ you are one of the most blessed people on this planet. More people than not are living without salvation, living without hope of eternal life, and living in bad conditions. You have hope! That's more than a lot of people can say. I leave you with that thought, and I hope that you will stop complaining, and stop living in want of more.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to be content, and to never complain. Draw us closer to you, and let us spread the hope that you give us to others. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
