My Mind Was Set Free!

Friday's Devotion (2-24-06)

"For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." 1 Corinthians 2:11-12 (KJV)

Ever notice when you talk to a non-believer or an atheist, they don't really understand the things we do. We try and try to explain, but most of them just don't get it. They can't understand the Word of God. Then you have us, we realize the things given to us by God. For example: There was that time I told you all about when I would've been hit by that car. I give credit to God that I wasn't ran over and killed. An atheist on the other hand would've given the credit to chance, or luck... With them nothing is fate, nothing is decided by anything other than chance in their mind. We know in our hearts who to give the credit to, and we see all the little signs in-between that prove that God saved us! The sign in my case was the strong urge to turn around instead of trying to cross the street. I turned around and the light turned, it was my turn to go... The extra second it took to turn all the way back around, saved me from being hit by the crazy driver with no regard for human life. What urged me to turn around in the first place? A thought kept coming into my mind, "Turn around and walk over there, and push the street button again." I only push the button once, I don't push it twice. I know that once is enough, but the thought wouldn't leave me alone, so I listened to it. I believe that God was putting that thought there. I'll never forget it, and if you would've been that close to being hit you wouldn't either. I was feeling down on myself that day, and I asked God, "Why'd you save me from that truck?" I heard the small voice, "Because I'm not done with you yet."

There are plenty of other signs in my life, signs that I noticed that the man without the Holy Spirit would not notice. Little things that God does to protect us, and huge things. Also, I understand the scriptures pretty well. I'm not an expert, I'm still learning. I just know that I have seen things more clear than I used to see them, before I was saved by Christ. Why don't you take a look around, you'll be amazed what you notice when you're walking with Jesus. You'll be amazed at all the things that the Holy Spirit will actually reveal to you. Before I was saved it was like my mind was trapped in a box, I had nothing going for me. Once I accepted Jesus it's like the box was opened, my mind was free... I even developed a creative side. A side that I never had before. It's not magic, it's Jesus!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please set our minds, hearts, and souls free. Let us realize the things from you and thank you for them. Draw us closer to you, and continue to put your protective shield and angels over us. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
