A Common Bond
Thursday's Devotion (2-9-06)
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is
expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not
come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." John 16:7 (KJV)
The comforter mentioned here is none other than the Holy
Spirit, or if you prefer to call Him the Holy Ghost. When Jesus died on the
cross, it says that He gave up the ghost. Which means He died, but also it
signifies more here in this case. Jesus gave us (Those who believe on Him,) His
Spirit! The Spirit comforts us, guides us, talks to us, and He does so many
other things. The Holy Spirit gives you spiritual gifts such as: The gift of
tongues, prophesying, the power to heal the sick, and many more gifts. When I
write new lyrics for a song or a poem, I give the credit to the Holy Ghost. I
really believe that it is Him that gave me those words to write. There's no
other explanation, because they just flow into my mind. They come so fast, and
the time it takes me to write them is the time it would take me to copy them
from someone else. The Holy Spirit does so much for us, He even does many things
that we aren't aware of to help us. Let's thank the Holy Spirit, and Jesus for
allowing us to have His Spirit, and the Father for sending His Son. Whoever says
that we don't need the Holy Spirit, I say that person is crazy! They're probably
on the verge of killing themselves because they don't have the Holy Spirit. Life
without the Spirit of Jesus is a life not worth living in my opinion. I've been
there, done that, never want to do it again. If you want the Holy Spirit, then
ask Jesus Christ into your heart today.
Isn't it amazing that the Holy Spirit that has come to live in so many of us
believers, is also the same Spirit that lives in God and Jesus Christ? That is a
common bond that they have allowed us to have. If you have the Holy Spirit, then
you're my spiritual brother or sister. A common bond. And what an awesome bond
it is, don't ever take that for granted my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, for your Son, and for
your Holy Spirit. We also thank you for everything. Please help us to appreciate
all that you give us, and all that you do for us. Draw us closer to you, and may
we always be filled with and guided by the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
