Start Fresh

Wednesday's Devotion (2-8-06)

"For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I." Romans 7:15 (KJV)

God knows that I've been struggling with this problem, and I'm sure that many of you have as well. The things that we want to do, the things that bring glory to God, those are the things that we DON'T do. The things that we hate are the things that we do. I've been finding this scripture to be more and more true as each passing day goes by. I tell you all not to judge people, then 10 minutes later I find myself passing judgment. I tell you not to lie, but then something gets me to do it within only a few minutes after saying it's bad to lie. The list of sins goes on. What we have to realize is that we aren't living completely in spirit. We have flesh to contend with. The flesh is constantly trying to kill our spirit. It is the sin in us that we can't always control. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. We are all guilty of sin, and we all fall short of the glory of God...

But there's good news: God looks on the heart! He sees that you want to do His Will, and that means more than you'll ever know! He'll see that you're trying, and He'll see that you've accepted Jesus Christ. These good things out-weigh the bad things in the eyes of God. The most important thing is that you've accepted Jesus Christ, and you're trying to please Him! If you read this message and say, "Yeah, that's true!" then you go out and do something bad because you think you're free to do so... That's a different story. There's a difference between sinning on purpose and sinning because you're weak. That also doesn't mean that you should just give into every weakness or temptation. The bottom-line is that you should be TRYING to do right in the eyes of God. You should also be asking for His help every step of the way. Ask for forgiveness of all your sins right now, even the ones you did on purpose, and the ones that are even hidden from you. Let's start fresh with Jesus today. Let's start fresh everyday!

The funny thing is that with every little thing you do wrong, you're going to hear a voice. This voice is going to say, "You're condemned now! You're doomed!" And this voice just keeps driving it in! You must know that this voice is not of God. If you want to make the devil mad, then there's no quicker way than saying and believing, "I am saved by the blood of the lamb (Jesus Christ!) I might sin, but that's why Jesus died to free me from those sins!" Some churches will tell you to stomp the ground to make the devil angry, well that doesn't work! That's just stupid no offense. If you want to make the devil angry you say and believe what I just told you to. It doesn't just make him angry, it makes him go away for the time being. That is IF you believe what you are saying.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to realize our weaknesses, and help us realize that we are only humans that make mistakes. Help us to do your Will. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
