The Pit of Worry

Thursday's Devotion (2-2-06)

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverb 4:23 (KJV)

Keep your hearts in the faith. Don't get choked up on the worries of life. About 2 years ago I was care free, I was having an easier time trusting in Jesus... But something happened, I started to get caught up in worry. Once you start worrying it's hard to stop, it's hard not to fall into depression. We have to keep our hearts from worry, because worry hurts our faith and walk with Jesus Christ. I'm getting better again, it's a trial that happens. I just wish that I wouldn't of fell into the pit of worry in the first place. It's a horrible place to be...

I guess that's what it is to have the faith of a child, not to worry. Most children don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, most small children don't have to worry about much of anything. They trust that their parents will provide anything they need in life. That's really where we all need to be. Jesus tells us that worrying does nothing for us! It doesn't help us in the least bit, but if we trust in God, that helps greatly! I mean I started to worry about the dumbest things, things that God always provided. Things that always come together on their own (Through Christ Jesus.) If you get caught in the deadly trap of worry, it's a destructive place to be. If you're in this state of mind now, then you need to get out of it! You need to pray hard for faith, and patience. You need to also be positive. When the negative thoughts and the worry comes in, you have to say, "I trust Jesus for this!" The longer you're in the pit of worry, the harder it is to get out. It's up to you to take control of your mind, and decide that you're going to trust Jesus. There are plenty of scriptures that apply to everyday worries that you can quote, and rely on. Jesus promises to provide you with food, and many other things that you need in life. So stop worrying and start trusting. You might even be worried because you have a deadly disease or cancer, but don't worry... JESUS HEALS! GET OUT OF THE PIT OF WORRY!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to get out of the pit of worry, and to stay out of it. Lord take away our unbelief. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
