It Pays To Have Mercy!
Saturday's Devotion (1-28-06)
"For he shall have judgment without mercy,
that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment." James 2:13
(KJV)
This is basically telling us that if we have no mercy
towards others in life, then when judgment comes... We will receive no mercy! It
makes sense really, what makes the unmerciful deserving of mercy? That's the
question that you need to ask yourself. You can't honestly say that the
unmerciful deserve mercy. I mean really, should a ruthless murderer be let out
of prison to commit another murder? Of course not! Should someone who would
punch a little baby keep custody of the child, should they go unpunished? Of
course not!
What is mercy? Mercy is giving food to the hungry on the street. Mercy is
helping someone who's car is stalled in the middle of no where with no help for
miles. Mercy is letting someone who owes you get away with not paying their debt
because they can't afford to. If you get into a fight and you have to defend
yourself... Mercy is to not hurt the person anymore than you have to in order to
save yourself, and maybe even your loved ones. Mercy comes in many forms. Most
all, mercy is to love thy neighbor as thyself. On this day, I ask you an
important question: Do YOU have mercy in your hearts? God has plenty of mercy,
but He can only give it to those who have mercy. Mercy was also what Jesus did
for us on the cross to save us. If you're thankful for that, then you'll show
your appreciation by being merciful to others. If you're not a merciful person,
then don't worry... You can fix it! Pray for mercy to enter into your heart, and
try not to be so cold to those who need you. People are in need of your love,
whether they're family, friends, or a stranger. There is no reason that you
can't start being merciful, it's a choice to be that way! It's also a very
rewarding way to be. It pays to have mercy!
Note about us: If you haven't figured it out, we're believers of prosperity.
Many churches don't teach prosperity. Many believe that people have to remain
needy to be saved, but not us. We believe that God blesses us based on our
hearts. If you have mercy, you will definitely be blessed! Not just in wealth,
but in all things. Prosperity isn't just about physical wealth, but it's also
about spiritual wealth. You can have both if you do things the way the Lord
wants you to do them! This has been proved in the lives of many.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for this message, for your mercy, and
for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those
who've wronged us. Through your Holy Spirit help us to be merciful unto others
as you are unto us. Draw us closer than we've ever been to you. In Jesus name.
A-men!
God bless!
