Defeating Depression
Wednesday's Devotion (1-25-06)
"Trust not in oppression, and become not
vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart [upon them]." Psalm
62:10 (KJV)
I want to focus solely on one part of this verse, "Trust
not in oppression..." One of the definitions of oppression is depression, "a
sense of being weighed down in body or mind." I used
www.webster.com to
look it up. Depression is a deceiver. Depression comes into your life and it
tells you that you're worthless, it tells you to give up. There's a way to get
rid of the depression, but the way to get rid of it... includes disobeying it!
Depression tells you to lay down and cry, you need to get up and sing! Singing
praises to God always helps get rid of the spirit of depression, but the most
important things are: Trusting God, and keeping a positive mind. If depression
says, "You have no chance," then you need to respond with, "I have a chance! All
things are possible through Christ Jesus who loves me!"
Depression is a disease that effects most of us. I've been through it, and I
still fight it at times. Depression usually comes due to illusions that the
devil creates. He creates the illusion that nobody loves you, the illusion that
you are a loser, etc. We don't always see things for what they are in life.
These illusions that are created in our mind lead to other serious problems:
Thoughts of suicide for example. Depressed people kill themselves all the time
because they believed that nobody loved them, but now that they're gone... Their
family and friends are mourning and suffering their loss. It sounds like
somebody did care! If you're struggling, we are available to talk to and
available to pray for you. Don't be afraid to ask.
Mission For You: Tell those around you that you love them, and show it daily. It
could save their life. You know that you love them, but do they know? You may
never know how important it is!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to show our love to everyone, and let us defeat the depression in
our lives. We ask that your Holy Spirit would cast out all fears, doubts, and
false illusions. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
