Balanced & Content

Tuesday's Devotion (1-24-06)

"A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight." Proverbs 11:1 (KJV)

If you watch sports, I'm sure it's not fun for you to see one team dominate the whole game. It's not fun knowing the outcome, and it doesn't make for a good game, right? Or if you like to cook, too many spices isn't good... But then if you don't have enough, it's bland. Everything has to be just right, everything needs a balance. If the balance isn't there, neither is the quality. Our lives need quality.

I believe that there's a balance to everything. People go from one extreme to the other. I need a job while other people are over working. Someone in a foreign country needs food, but some of us are over eating. If only we could have a balance. Imagine if you could take just enough work hours to support your family, and then give the rest to some other needy person who needs a job. Imagine if you could eat what you needed, and then give the rest to someone who is hungry. Imagine if you could have just the right amount of everything, not too much and not too little. Imagine how much better your life would be. There are three kinds of people: People who are wasteful, greedy people, and then there's balanced people. The balanced people are those who are content. They don't have as much as the greedy, but they haven't wasted like the wasteful. Guess what? The balanced person is the happiest, because they are content with what they have. You don't need to over-do things, but you also shouldn't sit around and do nothing. Anything you can think of needs a balance. Can you find balance in your life? I'm still seeking that good balance.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to have balance, and not to be imbalanced or unhappy. Let us be content. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
