Success in Jesus!
Sunday's Devotion (1-22-06)
"A little that a righteous man hath is
better than the riches of many wicked." Psalm 37:16 (KJV)
I was talking with my wife, and mother-in-law yesterday.
We were talking about marriage for someone else. The subject came up, "I hope
they find someone who is successful." It was along those lines anyway. I said,
"I think it's better that they find someone nice over someone successful. If
they can get both that's great, but if I had to choose... I'd choose nice over
successful any day." These aren't the exact words at all, but my mind is blank
on the exact words. It doesn't matter anyway, because this is the point... It's
better to have nothing and be a great person, than to have everything and be a
mean person. Or better yet, it's better to be righteous with little than wicked
with much.
Like I said yesterday, I'm going to be looking for a job. I'm going to choose a
job that I'm happy with, but also one that has good standards. I will not work
for an evil company, even if they offer me 20 times the amount of the more
righteous company. I've said this before, but to me success is about being
happy. It's not about how much money you earn, it's about HOW you earn it! Do
you earn it with the Lord in mind, or do you do it with selfish motives? Are you
happy with your job, or are you just there for the high amount of money you're
making? To me, happiness is success. And for me happiness comes in pleasing the
Lord! Because I'll be able to sleep at night at peace with my maker. Can you say
that for yourself? If your job isn't of God, then I suggest you find another
one! The Lord will bless you for it. There is success in Jesus!
You might think that I have a stupid opinion on success, but... Hey, my mother
worked two jobs when I was a child. She made sure we had money coming in, but
she was never around. She couldn't enjoy her own money really. And I sure didn't
feel good about her being gone all the time. She'd come home and complain about
work, her blood pressure was rising. And many of you don't even need two jobs to
experience this, one high paying job is enough to do that. If you're not happy
at your work, I wouldn't call you successful. I'd rather make less money and be
happy than make much money and be miserable.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Help us to be righteous people, and to be happy in life. May we have success in
you. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
