Defeating The Devil II
Saturday's Devotion (1-14-06)
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist
the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7 (KJV)
You know, people think that Christians are crazy. Have you
ever tried to tell a non-Christian family member that you get attacked by the
devil? Probably not, because they'd want you to check into a mental hospital,
right? But everyone gets attacked by the devil, but not everyone knows it. Us
Christians get the attacks worse though, because the devil wants us to flee from
God. He wants us to give up, but we have to be strong. We have to stay with God,
and flee from the devil. It's important that you have other Christians to
fellowship with, other Christians that understand what you're going through when
you're struggling with the devil. Because let's face it, we can't go to just
anyone and say, "The devil is attacking me!" And if you don't have someone to
talk to, and someone who's been through it... Then you'll drive yourself crazy.
You'll think, "I'm in this alone." You're not in it alone!
We need to submit to God, and resist the devil... THEN the devil will flee from
us. What we should understand is that submitting to God also includes resisting
the devil. If you submit to God, then you don't watch those horror movies, you
don't do perverted things, etc. There are so many things that people do that
just spells trouble. It's like their submitting to the devil without even
knowing it. We have to protect our ears, and protect our eyes from filth... In
doing so we protect our mind and heart. We also have to do and not do whatever
the Bible tells us to do. This comes as a problem to some people, because they
believe in God, but not in the Bible. Again, you have to understand something
here. Those of us who believe in the Bible, we take the Bible with faith. We
believe every word of the Bible through faith. Our faith is that God gave us the
Bible, and that it's inspired by Him. I know that the Bible is true, but if it
wasn't... Wouldn't God understand that we followed it only to please Him? Of
course He would understand, but I know it's true. I've had miracles because of
the Bible, my life has changed for the better because of the Bible. I have yet
to meet a Christian who doesn't read the Bible that is even half as happy as I
am in life. By submitting to the words of the Bible my heart is submitted to
God. Things only get better from there! If you're already in submission to God,
then the devil is already defeated in your life. Just claim the victory.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. We
praise you for giving us the power of the Holy Ghost to defeat the devil in our
lives. Help us to submit completely to your Spirit. Draw us closer to you, and
further away from the devil. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
