Justice For The Children?

Thursday's Devotion (1-12-06)

"And whosoever shall offend one of [these] little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea." Mark 9:42 (KJV)

"Responding to outrage against a judge who gave a child rapist only 60 days in prison, the state of Vermont issued an order to pave the way for a lengthy sentence." This news come from WorldNetDaily.com. I'm glad that the state of Vermont has decided to do something to get the sentence lengthened. The judge sentenced a child rapist to 60 days in prison, only 60! Mark my words, this is a sign of worse things to come. I mean how can anyone just let a child rapist off so easy? Our children are precious, the children are the future. The children raped by this guy must feel no justice is being done. When they grow up, imagine what the rape alone will have done to their mental heath... then they have to think about how easy the guy got off. A person who steals an automobile or robs a house gets a worse sentence than 60 days.

Don't get me wrong. As a Christian, I believe in forgiveness... BUT I also believe in protecting the innocent, especially when they can't protect themselves. In my head, I believe that a child molester deserves life in prison. I bet so many wouldn't be so quick to commit the crime then. In my head, judges like this should be kicked off the bench and sentenced to prison time themselves. It is their civic duty to protect both adults and children. If you think that what I'm saying is wrong... Do you actually believe that God wants children to be harmed? He doesn't even want adults to be harmed. Think about it people, I've thought on this for awhile even before this article came out. I thought, "Child molesters need a tougher sentence." I don't know, but I'd like to hear whether or not you agree with me. Please post in the guestbook about it. I don't know about you guys out there, but I WANT JUSTICE FOR THESE CHILDREN. Mark my words again, if justice isn't served in this life... It will be in the next! You children who have been violated can have comfort in that. We believe that God's loving kindness also includes justice for His children! Children He is your Father, and a Father brings wrath upon those that hurt his children. As someone with nephews and nieces, I can't tell you honestly that I wouldn't hurt those that hurt them. And I'm not even their Father.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Comfort the children in the world who have been abused in any way. Draw them close to you, and draw us all closer to you. We know that you will bring justice. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
