The Temple of The Holy Ghost
Sunday's Devotion (1-8-06)
"What? know ye not that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not
your own?" 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
We're supposed to use our bodies to glorify God. We're not
supposed to abuse ourselves with drugs, alcohol, or with violence. Out of
respect to the Holy Ghost, we're supposed to take care of our bodies. There are
so many forms of abuse that people do to themselves, not thinking that our body
is the home of God's Spirit. Some people over-work, and they don't sleep enough.
Some people don't eat enough, while other people over-eat. The list goes on. Of
course some people who don't eat enough, they can't help it... Because they may
not be able to afford food. But some people don't eat enough when they have the
option to eat right.
I can't help, but to think of all the ways I might abuse my body. Even thinking
of the little things that I do. I wonder how many people are guilty of abusing
the temple of God (Your bodies.) It also makes me think about people who abuse
other peoples' bodies, or people who kill people. Think about how those people
are damaging God's property, and the price they will pay for that sin if they
don't repent.
So, I guess another part of our New Year's Resolution of "Giving our all to
God," is taking better care of ourselves, and others. No more hurting people,
and no more hurting yourself. It's time to take care of ourselves, because our
bodies are the temple of something greater than us (The Holy Ghost.)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to take better care of ourselves as well as others. Draw us
closer to you, and use us as your tools. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
