There's a Problem

Thursday's Devotion (1-5-06)

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:22-24 (KJV)

These scriptures might seem weird to you. They seem strange to me, but why? Because we have doubt in our hearts. You might say, "Well, speak for yourself! I have no doubt." Well, all I can say is that I haven't seen anyone move any mountains lately, nor have I heard about it. Does that make this scripture a lie? No, it just means that we are lacking in the faith. When the people believe, God still works miracles. Some religions or people will say, "God doesn't work miracles anymore." Well, He doesn't work miracles for THOSE people, because they don't believe. The faith of a child is what we need, and it seems to get harder and harder to obtain that faith. When I was first saved, I had a bad stomach problem. It wasn't going away. The pain I had was horrible, and one day while in pain... I said, "God take it away!" Guess what? He took it away that instant, and it's been gone ever since. It's been gone for about 5 years, and it isn't coming back. There are way greater miracles than this, but my point is that when I said the prayer, I had no doubt in my mind that God was able and willing to perform.

I have to get something else off my chest. My brother once told me that his kids came back from the church, and they said that, "God is dead." God isn't dead, but most churches are! Before you rebuke me on that, think about it... Where is the great revival? Where are the great miracles? Granted, it may not be time for the great revival yet, but as long as the churches continue to do nothing, then the result will be nothing! As long as they are faithless, nothing will happen! God seems dead to these children, because the people praying have no faith. They're spiritually dead people praying to a spiritually living God. Not that I'm any better, but I'm admitting that there's a problem here. Everyone wants quick results, but nobody is believing. God is alive people, we are the dead ones! It's time to first bring ourselves back to God, and then God will do the work to bring more through us. The signs of a problem in the church remain, until we are able to move those mountains. This scripture isn't just talking about your problems either, it's talking about moving actual mountains. I live near Mount Diablo, and when I'm able to move it... You'll hear about it, but hey maybe someone else will move it first. Keep reaching for that faith to do it!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, as we forgive those who've wronged us. Give us that faith to move mountains, to heal the sick, and to receive all your miracles. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
