New Year's Resolution

Sunday's Devotion (1-1-06)

"And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;" Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

Happy New Year, and welcome back to GLK! We're glad to be back up for the new year, just another of many things to be thankful for... We're still running! Today, I bring us all an important new year resolution:

I've thought hard about something. Earlier this year... or last year I should say, I had a talk with my producer. He told me that there was this church that had a poor choir. They wouldn't rehearse or anything, and they didn't think they needed to, and they DO need to. As a musician for Jesus my producer was outraged that they weren't giving it their all. Outraged that they won't attempt to get better for Jesus. When I first heard this story, I thought, "Well, how they sing doesn't matter. God looks at their heart." However, I have found error in my thoughts. My thoughts contradict themselves. If God looks at the heart, and if our hearts don't have a desire to give it our all for Him... Then we can't be pleasing Him. Am I right? Here we have a poor choir that sings horrible, and they don't have time to rehearse. What does that tell you? That tells me that Jesus isn't important enough to those people. I've really given this a lot of thought, because this isn't something I would've said earlier last year. I would've said that God looks at the hearts, and I still say that... But God isn't going to accept mediocrity. We do not worship a mediocre God. We worship a God that wants all of us, and not just some of us! He doesn't want lip service, He wants all of you to serve Him! The sad thing is that many of us do more for ourselves, and for others than we do God. Or some of us give more to Satan than to God. For example: Some performers who turn Christian did better stuff as non-believers. They tried harder. They turn Christian, and they give mediocre lip service. They should give more than they did when they were non-believers. God is a jealous God, you should know that. He expects more of you than you think. Does salvation come solely in Jesus Christ? Of course it does! But that's a different subject. We're talking about giving our all to Jesus, like He gave His all to us.

The new year resolution is this: That we give our all to Jesus, and stop being mediocre believers. That we stop being lazy, and start giving something back to Jesus. After all, doesn't He deserve it? If you love Jesus, then the questions you must ask at all times is, "Doesn't He deserve for me to give my all, and do my best? Wouldn't He want me to give my all in all things?" Today's devotion was probably a year in the making, so I hope you all enjoyed it. A work was done for me to see this.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us not to be mediocre and help us to give you our all. In Jesus name. A-men!

Note: I don't want to list our prayer requests here in public, but I will say that we've received some important requests in the last month. Just pray for God's will to be done with all these requests. He'll know what you're praying for, even though you don't. Believe it.

God bless!

Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the message board or in our Guestbook.
