Being Slow To Anger
Monday's Devotion (4-18-05)
"He that is slow to anger is better than
the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." Proverbs
16:32 (KJV)
This couldn't be more true. A man that is slow to anger is
better than a mighty one, and it's better to rule your own spirit than a city.
You could rule the world, and not be at peace with yourself. You could do a lot
more when you rule over your own spirit, and when you're slow to anger. A man
who thinks clearly, instead of thinking out of anger has smarter ideas. A man
who is angry will do foolish things. An angry man might kill someone, and find
himself in prison. A man who is slow to anger, will be more successful in
spreading the gospel. The man who is slow to anger will gain rewards. The man
who is slow to anger, is also at peace. I would give anything for such peace.
How do we become slow to anger, and at peace? Through prayer of course, but
there is one thing you must know: You don't automatically become what you want
to become. God works a process to bring us to that peaceful state of mind, and
heart. He works a process for our patients. That also means that things will get
worse, before they get better. It takes time to work these things. God trains
us, He doesn't just give us what we need. I can't explain why it has to get
worse before it gets better, but it does. So, don't be discouraged!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to be slow to anger, patient, help us rule over our spirits, and
give us peace. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
