Scammers/Wolves In Sheep Clothing

Monday's Devotion (4-11-05)

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)

I'm so tired. Tired of checking my e-mail everyday to see another scammer/liar. I'm always getting scam e-mails, but the worse part is... They're scamming in the name of the Lord. How do I know they're scamming? It's obvious. Look at today's e-mail, from a person I never knew. I'm 21 years old, and this guy says he is 51. He talks like we're long time buddies. Here it is:

Hello Dear,

I don?t know if you could recollect who I am. I knew you some time ago even
though quite long, I am Jefferson Forbes, a Canadian citizen. I was moved
to contact you after fasting and praying. I am 51 years of age without a
child.

I am into mining business in Japan, I have been in business with a morocco
mining Company for over 15 years and have been a contractor with Lee Chang
Company in China, for more than 10 years now. I have been supplying them
with ?Oranic and Zahara Cord.? Presently I have been awarded a contract
to supply these items (Oranic and Zahara Cord) to Lee Chang mining Company
in China.

THE QUANTITY NEEDED:

For Oranic????.2000 kilos

For Zahara????.2500 kilos

I use to get them from Morocco at the cost of $2300 per kilo for Oranic
and $3000 per kilo for Zahara cord, and supply to Lee Chang Mining Company
in China at the cost of $4500 for Oranic and $6500 for Zahara cord. They
pay immediately the items are supplied. Once you get the items, they will
send their representative to you for an assessment of the items/payment.
And if the items are original, you will be asked to supply them.

Note: I used to get them in Morocco, but due their political and social
problems, the items are nowhere to be found in Morocco any longer.

My present condition does not permit to travel to get these items because
I can only move on a wheelchair as a result of fracture on my spinal cord.
Due to my present predicament, I can?t handle this project, and based on
this I would want to introduce you to the Company. And I will now rely on
commission from you, to enable me take care of my health condition properly.

Let me tell you all this: Beware of this. This is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Call me judgmental right now, but I'm being honest. I get these phony scammers in my e-mail everyday, and it makes me sick that they scam in Jesus' name! Don't believe me? Buy a dot com like this one, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Do you know what this does to a private citizen like myself? This prevents me from helping people that really need it. I wanted to help people with this domain, but with stuff like this... I have to really watch myself. I don't have the money to throw to every scam artist on the internet. So, I'm in a position where I can't trust anyone. I have given money to people who I felt like were scamming. I found out that my feelings were right. You know what happened? They kept coming back for more money. People need to realize that they're taking food from hungry mouths. They're taking trust from the innocent. Some day some of you are going to need help. You're going to come here for it, and you may not get it. You may not get it, because I won't be able to trust you... because of other peoples' actions. Isn't that sad? Don't get me wrong, I will try to help people that I feel really need it. I'll pray about it.

I'm going to tell you what I do with people. I don't even waste my time replying to e-mails like the one above. The guy didn't even know my name, but claimed to know me. When someone uses the contact form that needs help, here is what I do: Firstly, since I am a private citizen. And because I'm not a non-profit organization, I try to recommend other ways of help. I'll recommend places like: St. Vincent DePaul's, and I'll try to find places to help them. I find scammers this way too. You know why? Because they don't want help from anywhere else. They just want me to send them money. I'm so ashamed that people would scam in the name of Jesus. I want to help people, I want to help children. That's what I want to do. Scammers feed off of that, and they feed off Christians. They say, "Oh, he's a Christian... an easy target for some money." Well, this Christian is not an easy target. This Christian wants to help people that really need it, for food and etc. I don't want to pay for dirty business, and I will not! Jesus would not want us to give all our money, to people who don't need it. He wants us to feed the hungry, not supply the dope-sick! With dope (street drugs) people often get sick when they're addicted, and they can't get their hands on any dope. I've learned the symptoms of the dope-sick, and they'll do anything for money to supply their needs. It's a miserable life-style. So, stay off drugs. It's not a fun life with drugs. Anyway, back to the message at hand. We have to be of value to the needy. We can't do that, if we give our money to the un-needy. Let me explain it like this: You walk into a grocery store, on your way in a hungry man says, "Can, I have just a dollar? Please," you say, "No!" Then you go into the store, and spend a dollar on a lottery ticket. That dollar now belongs to the state, instead of some poor homeless man on the streets. Wouldn't have been better to give that dollar to the man? I want to give my money to people like the homeless man. I don't want to supply dirty habits, or get rich quick scammers. So, if you don't really need the money... don't come to me. Other people really need the money.

However, the scripture says it right, "For the love of money is the root of all evil..." Since it's the root of all evil, then why wouldn't a deceiver scam in Jesus' name? Watch out for those wolves in sheep's clothing! What we really need to do for these scammers, is pray for them.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to give to those who need it. Bring those who scam to you. Show them what they're doing is wrong. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
