A New Day For You!
Monday's Devotion (4-4-05)
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." James 4:17 (KJV)
Many of us have learned the laws of God, therefore we are held responsible for our actions. Why then did we want to learn the laws of God? Because we knew it was right, and because we love and fear our God! If we know to do something or not to do something, then it is sin if we do or don't do it. We need to know and we need to obey. The reason is, because it makes us better people. It brings us closer to the Lord. You do want to be closer to the Lord, right? You don't want to be lazy followers, do you? There is no reason that most of us, shouldn't be giving our all to Christ!
There are those with us that have mental handicaps. We can teach them about the Lord and all, but some things they might just not understand. If that's the case, then God knows their heart. God knows that they know no better. The real sin is when you know you're committing a sin. Some of you are crooks, some of you are adulterers, you know it is wrong... but you refuse to give up your sin! You will be held responsible for that. You need to give those sins up now, while you still have a chance. Today is a new day, a new day for you! Turn from your sins, and be pleasing to the Lord!
After thinking about it... I am persuaded that all God wants from us is for us to try. He just wants us to try to please Him. If we do to the best of our knowledge, then He's happy with us. If when you were a child you were never told, "Stay out of the cookies, while I'm gone," then your parents couldn't rightfully punish you, if you got into the cookies.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins, and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to know wrong from right, and to turn from all our sins. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
