Are We Like Sodom or Lot?
Tuesday's Devotion (3-22-05)
"Likewise also as it was in the days of
Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they
builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and
brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day
when the Son of man is revealed." Luke 17:28-30 (KJV)
Lot was a righteous man. He wasn't like the rest of the
people in Sodom. God waited to destroy Sodom until the day that all the
righteous were gone from it. When I say, "Righteous," I'm talking about the
people who believed and obeyed God. When Chris returns, those who trust in Him
will be saved from God's wrath. He'll take us away to be with Him for eternity.
After we're gone... those who don't follow the Lord will be cast out and this
world will be destroyed. Just saying cast out is kind of watering it down, they
will be sent to eternal torture! To be dead is one thing, but to live for
eternity in torture is worse than death.
What I'm trying to get across here is that we need to obey God. We need to obey
him to the best of our ability or else we could end up like Sodom. We could be
those people left behind and not the righteous that leave to safety. I want to
be one of the righteous people that get to leave here, before total mayhem
breaks loose. Don't you want that for yourself? Some of us are not taking our
walks with the Lord serious enough. Some people go to prison and accept the Lord
in prison, but when they're released they forget all about Him. Other people go
to Church on Sunday, but when Monday comes they forget all about the Lord. If we
want to be one of the righteous, one of the saved then we must obey and follow
the Lord. We must give ourselves to the Lord fully. Let's not end up like Sodom.
Are we like the rest of Sodom or are we like Lot? Which will represent us when
it's all over?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to follow you and to obey you. Help us to be the righteous people
you'd have us to be. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
