Submit & Trust In God!

Saturday's Devotion (3-19-05)

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." 1 Kings 18:21 (KJV)

This chapter where this verse is found, is probably one of my favorite spots in the Bible. I recommend that you all read this chapter. Many of us are between two or more opinions. You believe in God, but maybe in a way you have another god that you're following after. It's a deadly sin to worship any other god, because they're false gods. There's one true, living God! That's the God of the Bible. You believe in God, but because someone else is telling you: Don't eat meat, commit adultery, steal, lie... you go and do it or don't do what God wants you to! Then you justify yourselves with, "I don't believe that the Bible is right in these areas, I believe that so and so is more right on, on these subjects!" How can you believe one part of the Bible, and then rightly condemn another part of the Bible? I think that too many of you are listening to other people and not God. Also, I think that too many of you are afraid to give up the sins that you love. I might get hate mail for this, but the truth hurts. It hurts now, but if you take heed to what I'm saying, it's going to help you in the long run! Halting between two opinions, instead of just obeying God will hurt you eternally! Some of you even believe your own beliefs, over the truth of God. You don't even have to have someone else lie to you, you can do it to yourselves.

I hear a lot of people say, "I don't believe this part of the Bible." I became a minister, and I take the job seriously. I believe every part of the Bible, I don't question it. If I do doubt in my mind, then I rebuke the doubt. It's not my job to try and discern whether or not it's true. It's my job to believe that it is true. I'll never understand how people can believe one part of the Bible, and not another: It's like saying, "I believe that Jesus died for our sins, but I don't believe that He came in a mortal body." If He didn't come in a mortal body, then He couldn't die! I believe all the Bible, because it all goes together! It's like a puzzle and without all of it, it's not complete. We have to submit to God, we have to put down our beliefs and other peoples' beliefs, and take God's beliefs as our own. It's time that you stop halting between two or more opinions! No other opinion counts, besides the opinion of God... which isn't just an opinion, but it's truth! Submit and trust in God!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to believe your Word over all else. May we only worship you and may we submit fully to you. May we trust you with all our hearts. In Jesus name. A-men!
