Be Guided By God!

Tuesday's Devotion (3-15-05)

"Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." Psalms 73:23-24 (KJV)

Imagine yourself as a child who has to hold their dad's hand, while they cross the street. The Lord is holding each and everyone of our hand's and he's guiding us (The saved,) across the highway to eternal life! The problem is that some of us want to cross the highway without having our hand held in the hand of the Lord. That's a problem, because if we go without the Lord we will get ran over. We will not make it across that busy highway! There's too many distractions and we're only humans, we're going to look another way while a truck runs us over. On the other hand, when the Lord is holding our hand... if and when you get distracted, it's ok because He's still the one getting you across the street. You can't depend on yourself. The bottom-line is that without the Lord, you can't receive eternal life and you can't receive the glory of the Lord.

I've talked about braggers and how they have no right to brag. Let me tell you the good part of following Jesus. The good part of following the Lord is that you don't have to brag. The Lord is the one doing the great work, you have no room to brag. However, even though the Lord is doing the great work, in the end He is going to glorify you! The saved are going to receive a crown of life... as if any of us deserve it. We're going to receive eternal life... as if any of us deserve it. We're going to receive eternal peace and joy... as if any of us deserve it. We don't deserve anything, but we receive not because God owes us anything, but because He loves us! We receive good things from God, only because He is generous! Let me tell you something: A lot of times my dogs will whine, like we all have whined to God... they'll whine for some of my food and I won't give them anything sometimes. Why? Because I don't feel that they deserve to be treated for bad behavior! You and I don't deserve it either, but we receive treats from the Lord only because He is generous. You don't know how blessed you are to have our God as your God! So don't whine and complain, like you have something coming to you. Just follow the Lord and appreciate the blessings that you do receive. You can pray for more, but don't complain if God decides not to give it. There is a reason for it! Trust God's judgment.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to let you be our guide. Let us be humble and let us not be whiners and complainers. Help us to appreciate and give thanks for what you've given us. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
