Don't Hesitate To Do Good!
Sunday's Devotion (3-13-05)
"For it is God which worketh in you both to
will and to do of his good pleasure." Philippians 2:13 (KJV)
Many people do good works and then give themselves the
credit. They don't just give themselves credit, but they brag, "I am an awesome
person, I help others!" This'll lead to other phrases like, "What have you
done?" When it comes to your good works, you have no right to brag. The reason
is because it is the Lord that works in you, for you to even think of doing
those good works! The only good in you is God! Believe that. It's important that
you believe that, because if we're arrogant people then we can't be used to
bring a revival.
I'm about to state the obvious: If it is the Lord that works in us to do good,
then it's Satan that is working with the bad stuff! Don't ever blame the Lord
for bad things that you do. I remember a case on television, the woman killed
her children and said, "God told me to do it." God does not tell people to
commit sins! If something is telling you to commit a sin then say, "Get behind
me Satan! The Lord says, 'Thou shalt not commit murder!'" or, "The Lord says,
'Thou shalt not (Whatever sin you're being told to commit here.)'"
Each and everyone of you have an urge, an urge to do something good. Maybe it's
not an urge, maybe you don't even want to do it, but you're being told to do it.
Don't ignore the urge or the words saying, "Do something good!" If you're being
told to do something good for someone else or for the Lord, then go do it! Don't
hesitate to do something good! That's our problem, we hesitate to do good, but
we jump right into committing sins.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to do good, give us the urge and the will power to carry it out.
Bring us closer to you and may we be able to judge your voice from all the
others. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
