Don't Take Your Faith For Granted!
Saturday's Devotion (3-12-05)
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and
he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
This is probably the hardest instruction of the Bible to
obey, for me at least. It's hard not to lean unto our own understanding,
especially to people like me who think and dwell on everything! So many
questions arise, so many doubts come in at times. I call it, "The downside of
being a thinker." I know that I'm not the only one with this problem, I hear
people talking about this all the time. I hate it, I feel like taking my head
off at times. In this aspect, many of us are our own worse enemy.
When God tells us to do something, we shouldn't think about it. We should just
do it and trust God! I believe that Jonah must've been a thinker, because he ran
from the thing that the Lord wanted him to do. Do you feel like running from
God's will for your life or are you already running from it? You can't run from
it, it's going to catch you just like it did Jonah. The running is a sign of
little faith, it's a sign of thinking and leaning unto your own understanding.
It's not the only sign, but it's definitely ranked very high on the lists of
symptoms. You know one question that really stumps us thinkers and drives us
crazy is, "How can God just exist forever and be the first living being?" The
only answer that I've come up with is: God is God and that's that. It's just
like the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" That question
stumps the thinkers of the world.
How can we make things easier for us? We have to make a strong stand and say, "I
will take anything out of my life that brings questions or doubts." Many
believers like to participate in debates. I've made this mistake, a debate can
bring a great amount of doubt. If it brings you doubt, you have to throw it out!
Remember that little phrase, "If it brings you doubt, you have to throw it out!"
Why? The answer is because doubt is the strongest and most powerful tool of
Satan. Why? Because we are saved by faith and if Satan can take our faith, he
has won! Don't take your faith for granted! When Peter walked on water, what
happened when he doubted? He began to sink! Are you beginning to sink?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to trust in you and not to lean unto our own understanding. May
we acknowledge you in all our ways and take anything out of our lives that
brings us doubt. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
