You Belong To Christ!
Tuesday's Devotion (3-8-05)
"Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we
have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say
unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or
father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the
gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions;
and in the world to come eternal life." Mark 10:28-30 (KJV)
This is an awesome promise. I think of this promise almost
every time I hear about a family member or etc, who is bringing someone else in
their own family further away from the Lord. Some of the stuff I have heard is
awful. I've heard women say, "I must obey my husband, but he wants me to watch
pornography with him," or, "He wants me to do drugs." The list goes on, the sad
part is that these women think it's, "Their duty to their husbands and to God"
to obey their husbands, even in these situations. Our first duty is to the Lord
Jesus Christ. If someone is bringing you away from the Lord, or if they're
causing you to sin then you need to get away from them. You need to put the Lord
first, put your salvation first! If you do then you have this promise with you:
You will receive one hundred times more in this life and eternal life in the
next! If you stay faithful to God then God will be faithful to keep His promise!
Some spouses will say, "You'll do what I say, I own you!" You belong to Christ!
You are to be pleasing to God rather than pleasing to people!
Let me clear something up. The Bible teaches us not to disown people just
because they're unbelievers. Some people will confuse today's scripture and
they'll stop all association with unbelievers. Spouses will get divorces because
their spouse is an unbeliever, but the Bible says, do not divorce because your
spouse is an unbeliever! Before you start kicking people out of your lives, ask
yourself, "Is this person causing me to fall? Is this person coming in-between
my walk with the Lord? Do I love this person or thing more than the Lord?" Those
are the things that we need to seriously ask ourselves. If the answer is, "Yes"
to those questions, then you might consider leaving that thing/person. Remember
this first and foremost: You belong to Christ!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to put you first in our lives, and to leave behind anything that
is drawing us further away from you. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
