We Are In Trouble!

Friday's Devotion (2-25-05)

"My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:1-10 (KJV)

Many of us have respect of persons. You'll see certain churches with favoritism to a certain nationality, or with favoritism toward the rich. Back in the day of slavery, the black people had to sit in the back of the church. We haven't come too far away from that, but it isn't just against black people: It's against the poor, it's against every nationality, it's against everyone who may be different from the church they're attending. If you attend a church with respect of persons, then you should find another church. Find another church, whether you are the one with favoritism or the one being sinned against. There are certain ministers that only teach on subjects that concern, "Their people" What I mean by that is that, they're partial to a certain type of people. There are homosexual ministers who only minister to and for homosexuals, there are white ministers who only minister to whites and for whites, there are black ministers who minister only to and for black people, and the list goes on. Are we not supposed to be the servants of God? If we're the servants of God, then we serve all people and not just a chosen group!

If you attend one of these churches, like I said you need to stop attending it. Why? The reason is this: How can a minister teach you the commandments, when he himself is breaking all the commandments right before your face? That'd be like a drug addict trying to teach children not to do drugs, when he is doing them right in front of the children! This is not effective ministry. Not only is it wrong in that aspect, but who wants to attend a hypocritical church or a corrupt church? I hope that this is speaking to you, because as for me... I am sickened by this. Turn on the radio and hear the same preacher, preaching the same thing, "My people are being wronged! I will fight for their rights!" I'm a minister and I will serve all people, not just people I can relate with! I will fight for everyone's rights when given the opportunity! What good would I do otherwise? What light would shine from me otherwise? I'm telling you right now, that all of your rights are being stomped into the ground, and a lot of you are supporting the places that are doing it... without knowing it. You might say, "No, the church I go to is for people like me." But if the church only serves a certain kind of people and treats the rest badly or not as equal, then people are going to lose respect for you. It's going to continue to open the doors for these types of churches. It's going to separate the world even more. Wonder why there's racism or people against poor people in the U.S.? Well, here's your answer, it's because we all separate ourselves! When two different nationalities or walks of life can't sit in the same church, you know we're in trouble! We are in trouble!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us all to be united, with no respect for persons. May we treat all men, women, and children equally. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
