Are You Breaking This Commandment?

Sunday's Devotion (2-20-05)

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments." Exodus 20:4-6 (KJV)

It hasn't been very long at all, since I've talked to you all about this commandment. Notice the part that says, " Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth..." It even says not to make images of things in Heaven. I wonder why. Could it be because we couldn't possibly get the images right? Is it because the images are just images and not living spirits or people? The Israelites got themselves in trouble many of times for making images and even worshipping them, but people in our day still have not learned a lesson! We have not learned a lesson from the Israelites:

That link will take you to a painted picture, of what's supposed to be Jesus Christ. Not only is it a false image, but many people bow to these and even pray to these. This is an abomination to the Lord! You might be saying, "But that's Jesus!" No! That's a painting of a character that Leonardo De Vinci originally painted and he gave it the name of our Lord. It's nothing more than just that! They didn't have cameras back in the day of Christ and Leonardo De Vinci was not there with Christ! Christ didn't pose for any paintings. I'm sorry to burst any bubbles, but many of you are breaking one of the commandments with this. It's time to realize what these images really are... FALSE!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to worship you and only you. Help us to put away all our graven and false images. Bring us closer to you and make us holy children. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!

Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the message board or in our Guestbook.
