God Always Has Your Best Interests In Mind!
Sunday's Devotion (2-13-05)
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the
LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that
walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11 (KJV)
This is a wonderful promise from the Lord. Yesterday, we talked about patience
and how we must wait for answered prayers. Some of you are saying, "I believe
that I am walking uprightly, but the good thing that I want, I'm not getting!"
You either have to have patience; or the thing you're praying for, isn't really
good for you! The Lord, isn't going to give you things that will cause you to
fall. I've heard these little stories where people say that their prayer wasn't
answered, but later on they were thankful for that. For example: Let's say that
you're a man who is in love with a certain woman, you're praying hard for her to
be your wife. You never get the answer to that prayer and you end up marrying
someone else, later down the road you see the one you used to want and she's bad
news. She's on drugs, she likes to nag at her husband and give him a hard time.
I think that part of this example is a Garth Brooks song, called, "Unanswered
Prayers" In the song he is thanking God for unanswered prayers. So if you're
prayer isn't being answered, then ask yourself, "Is the thing that I'm praying
for, in God's will for my life?"
I can't help myself, here goes! How can you know, God's will for sure? You have
to know God first and the only way to know God, is through the Bible! Some of
you are praying for the death of an enemy. Maybe this person has done something
really horrible, but if you know God, then you should know why your prayer is
unanswered! You're not to pray for the death of an enemy, but you are to love
your enemies and pray for them. You should be praying for them to change, not
for them to die! That is a very common mistake people make, they pray for harm
to be done and not repentance. That was just an example of how you can learn
what's right and what's wrong to pray for, through the Bible! I guess some
people don't think that there's a right and wrong way to pray, but there is:
Some prayers God is going to count as abominations, like the prayer for harm. So
know God's will, and be blessed with the good things He has for your life! God
has your best interests in mind, all the time!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please help forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged
us. Please help us to know your will for our lives and may we not be
discouraged, by unanswered prayers. Help us to know that you have our best
interests in mind. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
