Feeling Is Not Fact!
Wednesday's Devotion (2-9-05)
"For when we were yet without strength, in
due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one
die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by
the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his
life." Romans 5:6-10 (KJV)
Have you ever been in love? Often people fall in love with
people, who are ugly on the outside and others will say, "You're in love with
that person?" The thing is when you're in love, you don't see ugliness on the
outside. Also you would do anything for the person you love, even die. You could
say that we were ugly in sin and Christ, loved us so much that He didn't see our
ugliness and He died for us. Now when God looks at the saved, all He sees is His
Son and He loves us! This is such an amazing subject, because God's love is so
great for us all.
Maybe you have fallen short again, but this time you don't feel like you are
forgiven. I wrestle with that feeling a lot and feelings are not a part of
faith. We have to believe that the same God, who sent His Son for us, is also a
God that through His Son is able to forgive us... Otherwise what would Christ
had died for, if His sacrifice wasn't good enough to cover your sin? When we
doubt our forgiveness, we doubt the power of the cross! No one can tell me that
I don't know how hard it is to overcome, the feelings and the thoughts of being
unforgiven... I still have a very hard time overcoming those feelings. The words
that come out of my mouth often are these words, "I just don't feel saved." or
"I just don't feel forgiven!" I hear the same thing from my wife, that I'm
telling you all, "Feeling is not fact!" Those words can make a person like me
angry, because we really have a tough time with our feelings. It seems like
everyone else has it down, it seems like they're all believing. It may even seem
like they don't even get the feeling of being unsaved, but rest assured...
everyone who is saved has had it at one time or another. Remember that there is
a difference between feeling and fact! Feeling isn't always fact. There are
people who feel like they're saved because they're in some cult, but the reality
is that they're deceived. So you can feel saved, but that doesn't mean anything
and you can feel unsaved and that doesn't mean anything. What matters is whether
or not you believe on Jesus Christ!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to overcome our feelings and to trust in you for our salvation.
Help us to understand how you view us. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
