There's Nothing Else He Would Rather Do!

Tuesday's Devotion (2-8-05)

"But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God." Psalm 40:17 (KJV)

This verse makes me think of three things. The first thing it makes me think about, is how loving our God is. It is amazing what this all-powerful, rich, and mighty God, did for us and still does for us. Jesus Christ came and died for us. Jesus is God, our God came and died for us, He also rose again and ascended up into Heaven and is alive forever more. Anyway, do you know what that's like? That's like a man dying for an ant, no that comparison doesn't even do this situation justice. Compared to God, we might as well be smaller than ants. The Lord puts so much into each and everyone of us and if there was any other god... do you think for a minute that they would be so kind and so gracious to us? I would imagine that they wouldn't even give us the time of day. That's why I'm glad that there is no other god beside our God, who is a great God!

The other thing that this verse makes me think of is that it doesn't matter if someone is rich. It doesn't matter if they're rich, that isn't going to give them favor with God! Just because you are poor doesn't give you any less chance to enter God's Kingdom, actually it gives you more chance! (Read Matthew 19:24) The real riches is favor with God and that favor comes by accepting Christ and obeying His commandments.

The final thing I think of when reading this is that, there is nothing that we can't ask God for! Whatever our problems are and whatever we need, we can come boldly to God and ask for it! You don't have to apologize for coming to God, "Oh God, I'm sorry for wasting your time!" When you come to God for anything, you're not wasting His time... because there is nothing else that God would rather do than love you! Believe that and go to God right now and apologize for those apologizes where you said, "I'm sorry for wasting your time!"

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. We're sorry for the times we said sorry for coming to you. We also especially thank you for thinking so much of us and about us and for sending your Son, for us. We know that we are not worthy of your love, but since you want to give it... we accept it and we love you too! In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
