What's The Meaning of Life?

Sunday's Devotion (2-6-05)

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV)

One of the oldest questions, if not the oldest is, "What was I put on earth to do?". The answer is quite simple, to serve the Lord! That is the purpose of our lives and if we're not doing it, then we'll feel empty, we'll feel incomplete and we'll feel a lot of stuff that we wish we wouldn't. You weren't made to fulfill duties at the work place and if you think that's why you're here then some of you are feeling pretty down: You're working at fast-food restaurants, stores and various other places and you think that these things are what you were made to do. I'll tell you that if I thought that way back when I worked at Burger King, then I would've felt pretty worthless. There's nothing wrong with working at Burger King to support yourselves, but if you think that is your whole reason for living then you're in poor shape. You can feel better about where you work by knowing that it doesn't matter, unless the Lord, is calling you somewhere else. Our duties are to serve God: Follow His commands, have faith and spread the gospel. Look at Jesus, He was a carpenter, but we all know that the job He was born to do was not laying carpet... He had a greater job than that!

You are all called and being called, to a greater job than the one you're earning your income from! Maybe you're an accountant, a lawyer, a police officer, a teacher, maybe you work at a fast-food restaurant... The bottom-line is that it doesn't matter, whatever you do there is a greater job for you and that's to serve Christ. I'd say that the greatest job to have is to be a Minister and all of God's children are Ministers! If you're following Christ, then it doesn't matter if you have a certificate, you are a Minister! You're ministering to others by the way you live and even by word. You minister to others by serving God and at the same time you're serving others! We all have a duty and you better believe that!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to serve you in deeds and in our hearts. Help us to serve that wonderful purpose and use us for what you want to use us for. Make us bright shining lights and may we bring many souls to your throne. In Jesus, name. A-men!

Note: If you aren't saved and want to start fulfilling the great duty that God, has for you... then please see our, "God's Free Gift" page for a fuller, more joyful and complete life in Christ Jesus!

God bless!
