Put Your Heart Into It!
Tuesday's Devotion (2-1-05)
"He answered and said unto them, Well hath
Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me
with their lips, but their heart is far from me." Mark 7:6 (KJV)
A mistake people often make is that they honor the Lord,
with their lips, but not with their hearts. You'll hear a lot of people say
things like, "Praise the Lord!" or "God, is so awesome!", but words are nothing
without action. If you come to my house in need of food, I can say, "I love
you!" and not give you any food, but if I did that then I'd be lying. In the
same manner people are worshipping Christ, with their mouths and it's false
worship because they're doing something else with their actions and their heart.
Words are nothing without action to back them up.
We have to honor the Lord, with both mouth and heart, if we are to enter into
God's Kingdom. If you honor with your mouth and not with your heart, the Bible
calls that, "Being double-minded", but in today's society we call it, "Being two
faced". If you tell someone to their face, "You're a great friend!", but behind
their back you tell someone else, "That person is such a jerk!", that is being
two faced. The only difference between doing that behind's someone's back and
doing it to the Lord, in your heart is that you can't hide it from the Lord! The
Lord, doesn't honor this at all. You need to do more than honor God, with your
lips... you need to put your heart into it!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help our hearts to be right with you and not just our mouths. Bring us
closer to you. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
