You Have To Live With Yourself!

Saturday's Devotion (1-29-05)

"My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not." Proverbs 1:10 (KJV)

If you're a teenager or even an adult then you might go to school or work and be hassled to do things that aren't right. People will try to entice you to do drugs or commit adultery or maybe even kill someone else. There is a number of things that people will try to get you to do and if you do these things... then it's not just the person who enticed you to do it's fault, it's your fault too! One of the most common things is that someone will say, "If I didn't do it then people wouldn't like me anymore and they'd mock me.". As for me personally, I'd rather have God, on my side than someone who won't like me just because they can't have their way with me.

This devotion goes with yesterday's, because it's along those same lines of having respect for God and for yourself. People who can be enticed by others to do things that they shouldn't do are people who don't have respect for themselves or God. If someone tried to get me to commit adultery or something with them then they'd hear these words from me or something like it, "No, I have a sense of dignity and respect for God, my wife and myself.". Just think about this: Being persuaded to do something sinful will only hurt you the most. You will have to face the judgment before Christ and when you do, you have to do it all alone. Of course the sinner who enticed you will face judgment too, but that's not your problem. When people are persuaded to do sinful actions they really suffer, they often: Lose their lives, spouses, family, health, peace with God, self-respect and the list goes on and on and on. Let's end on this note: You are a free person, you make your own decisions and you don't need anyone else doing that for you! You have to live with yourself!

Make sure you surround yourself with friends and family that respect you and your beliefs. If your friends don't respect you for who you are then it might be hard for you to respect yourself.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to do right in your eyes and to not have any guilt on our heads. May we be able to tell people, "NO!" when they try to persuade us to sin. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
