Fear The MOST Powerful!
Monday's Devotion (1-24-05)
"I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who
art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son
of man which shall be made as grass; And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that
hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and
hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he
were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?" Isaiah 51:12-13
(KJV)
I'd say that fear of man over fear of God, is another one
of my favorite things to teach about. It is one of them because it makes
absolutely no sense. Imagine this if you can: Here we are standing and we're
afraid to mention God, in front of our world's most powerful leader or just some
huge guy who hates God... We're so afraid of offending this person, but yet God,
is bigger and greater and more powerful and yet we're more worried about what a
man can do to us? God, is able to destroy both our bodies and soul in Hell. He
can both destroy us and those who we fear. Imagine being destroyed by our mighty
God, all because we didn't fear Him and obey His commandments.
You have to think about it this way: Man can destroy your body, but not your
soul. Let man destroy your body if that means eternal life with the Lord, Jesus
Christ. I'd rather lose my fleshly body than my eternal soul. These scriptures
say, "...who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die,
and of the son of man which shall be made as grass...". That right there is
telling us that we have no right to fear anyone except God. We have no right
because it's so stupid to fear anyone or anything other than the Lord and over
the Lord. The Lord, is great and greatly to be feared!
How can you fear a loving God? You fear Him by respecting Him and obeying His
commandments and also by knowing that He is the law giver and He must enforce
the law. If you break God's law then there is a penalty and that penalty is
death everlasting, unless we repent (Ask forgiveness and turn from our sins).
God, is loving, but He is also a fair being who enforces the rules that have
been set since the beginning. God, can not tolerate sin and that is why He had
to send His Son for our sins, but if we don't have Christ then all God, can see
is sin and He has to send it away from His presence. Fear the Lord over man
because He is the MOST powerful!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to fear you and not people. May we be able to boldly profess the
name of Jesus Christ, without fear of the persecution which we will receive. In
Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
message board or in our
