Don't Be Blown Away!
Saturday's Devotion (1-15-05)
"Let us hold fast the profession of our
faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)
Wavering is one of the biggest problems we have as
followers of Christ. What is wavering? Let's say that I said one minute, "Jesus,
will get me through this trial!" then the next minute I said, "Jesus, has left
me to die!" that is wavering and I've done it plenty of times. I can't count the
number of times that I have wavered in the faith. We need to keep the faith
because through faith we are saved not only with salvation through Christ, but
through faith we are saved from all trouble. I have heard of and from people who
lost their faith because they wavered. These people will say things like, "I
don't believe in Christ, anymore because He left me in my pain and didn't help
me." I will tell these people, "You have to believe to get help!" and this
conversation always goes the same, the next words from them are, "I did
believe!". The keyword is "did" that shows us where the wavering comes in. They
stopped believing and if you stop believing then you will not get answers.
Answers from God, don't come immediately all the time and we sometimes have to
wait and keep the faith in our time of waiting. This is why we need patience and
faith... otherwise we lose our patience first then we lose our faith.
God, wants you to believe for the answers to your problems, but some of you
believe for a minute and then when you don't get an answer you stop believing...
I know because I have been there. I would believe for an hour and speak with
authority to the devil and sometimes only for ten minutes and then when my
answer didn't come in that small time I'd say, "How come I am not being delivered?
I believed!". When Jesus, walked on water if He had only believed for a moment
then stopped... He would've sunk! He kept the faith and since He kept the faith
in God, He also kept His feet above water. It was Peter, that walked on water
with Jesus. Let's take a look at what happened, "And Peter answered him and
said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said,
Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to
go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth
[his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore
didst thou doubt?" That was Matthew 14:28-31. With these scriptures we see that
when we believe the devil is going to throw obstacles in our way to cause us to
doubt. There is going to be great winds to blow you away from God, but the
question is: Are you going to let them blow you away? Don't be blown away!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Help us not waver in the faith, but to step out of the boat and keep our feet
above water even though the wind picks up against us. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
