Praise & Glory To God!
Wednesday's Devotion (1-5-05)
"Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto
thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake." Psalm 115:1 (KJV)
The last few days we have some what been on the subject of
not glorifying ourselves, but glorifying God. We know that all of us at times
have tried to bring glory to ourselves and not to God, in different ways. We
know that it's wrong to glorify ourselves and not God, but what do we get out of
glorifying God? If we glorify God, then He will glorify and honor us before
others. Let's look at Job 1:8 (KJV), it says, "And the LORD said unto
Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the
earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?"
Doesn't it sound like God, was kind of praising His servant Job? Imagine this
you're walking uprightly with the Lord and you don't bring glory to yourself,
but to God, but God, is up in Heaven praising you and He's so pleased with you.
Then not only is He glorifying you in the spiritual world, but He makes it open
for all to see with blessings down here on earth. Doesn't that sound so much better
than trying to glorify ourselves? What can you have that's better than God,
being pleased with you and giving you rewards? You can try to glorify
yourselves, but you can't do as good of a job as God! Let's look at people of
our time like: Joyce Meyers, Billy Graham, etc. I don't believe that they
started out blessed. I think they first walked right with God and then God, was
pleased with them so He promoted them. You see these teachers on television and
in other places and you wouldn't even know these people if God, wouldn't of
glorified them and brought them to the public and now you hear people saying,
"These people are such great teachers and blessed of God." However, you can't
get that far by glorifying yourself! Glorify yourself, brag about yourself and
do you know what you will become? A nobody! God, exalts the humble and brings
down the prideful.
Also if you read further into this Psalm 115, I think you will see that it is
also talking about glorifying Him with praise. Have you ever felt really
depressed and nothing seemed like it could help? If you open your mouth and sing
praises to the Lord, then you will feel like the depression is being lifted from
you. There are so many great rewards for glorifying and praising God. If you're
not bringing glory to God, then there's no wonder you aren't happy, there's no
wonder you aren't succeeding in life, there's no wonder that you don't have the
blessings that you would like to have. I've said this before and I will again...
bringing glory and praise to the Lord, blesses Him and He wants to bless you in
return. How do you bring glory to God? Not just by praise music, but by living
as He would have you to live!
P.S. Be on the look out for the return of the Praise Page. It will have some
songs, I wrote. Some of you heard the old demos that were on there before, but
these are new demos of the old songs. We did rid of those old demos and got
something a lot better for the Lord and for you when we get that back up. There
is no set date for that yet.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please help us to bring glory to you and not to ourselves. Help us to only
praise you and no other, for there is no other God, besides you! In Jesus, name.
A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
message board or in our
