Let Solomon, Be An Example!

Monday's Devotion (5-3-04)

"Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like." 2 Chronicles 1:10-12 (KJV)

Solomon, asked for wisdom and knowledge to serve God's people. This wasn't a selfish request from Solomon. Since Solomon, asked for something that wasn't selfish, he gained a lot more. He was given riches, wealth and honor, because the Lord, was so pleased with him. If we seek good for others and not ourselves, then we will also get good things for ourselves. If our requests aren't selfish, but also for the need of everyone else then we will receive a blessing. The Lord, wants to bless us all, but some of us are too selfish to receive any kind of blessing. Caring for the needs of others, opens the doors for blessings and selfishness closes that door. If you want the door open, then you must help others and care for their needs.

Everyday, I pray for wisdom to write on a scripture. I do this, because I don't want to tell anyone wrong. I want to serve God's people right, like Solomon, did. I believe that God, has made me able to do that and I have blessings. I wouldn't have anything at all, if I was completely selfish. I say, "Completely selfish" because sometimes, I can still be selfish. Selfishness is sin. There are people with more needs than we have and we sometimes choose to be selfish with what we have. Think about this next time you go and purchase something that you don't need or won't use. The money you use for the item you don't need, could go for something that someone else needs to save their life. If you serve God's people, you will be blessed, but if you are selfish you will have nothing in the end! Let Solomon, be an example of how we should all be.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us all closer to you and give us: love, wisdom and understanding. May we seek to help others and not ourselves. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
