God's Promise To All Flesh!
Sunday's Devotion (5-2-04)
"And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth." Genesis 9:12-16 (KJV)
Some of us don't realize what the rainbow is there for. Some people think of the wives tail, about a pot of gold being at the end of the rainbow and some think of gay pride. Neither of those things is what the rainbow is about. The rainbow symbolizes God's promise to never destroy all flesh with a flood again. When we look at the rainbow, we should remember the promise of God. We should also be thankful. If you look back in the book of Genesis before the flood, those people probably weren't worse than the generation we live in now. God, could've easily waited for our generation to flood the earth, but He didn't.
Some people just altogether think that the rainbow is a, "Gay thing." This is because of the way our society presents it these days. The rainbow isn't just for homosexuals. The rainbow is for all flesh. It is a promise to us all. It is one of God's promises that we share with all flesh and not just believers. So don't look at the rainbow as something that has a pot of gold at the end of it or as a symbol for gay rights, but look at it for what it is. It is the symbol of God's promise. It is God's promise to all flesh!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us closer to you and thank you for your promise. When we see the rainbow, may we remember your promise. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
