One of Many Battlefields
Saturday's Devotion (5-1-04)
"While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being." Psalm 146:2 (KJV)
Singing praise to the Lord, is a good thing for us to do. It lifts our spirits and takes away depression or worries. It makes us feel better. Sometimes we may not even feel like singing praise, but those are the times we need it the most. The enemy will make us so depressed and upset and make us think, "Why sing praise? I have nothing to sing about!" What a trickster the enemy is! If we force ourselves to sing praise in those times, we will be happy we did. I've gotten so upset many times, that my wife had to make me sing praise. I just couldn't open my mouth to do it, but once I did, it helped! It is not good to let yourself stay depressed. Also we shouldn't only sing praise when we are upset, but all the time. Praise blesses the Lord and the Lord, will bless us in return. It is a good and needed thing for our walk with the Lord.
Also we shouldn't just sing praise, but we should listen to it as well. Some of us are so caught up in listening to worldly music and we think that we don't need spiritual music. It is the exact opposite. Worldly music has a power and that power is not the power of God, but the powers of darkness. It brings depression or worldly feelings. If we listen to spiritual music, we lift depression off of us and we don't have carnal feelings taking us over. Music is a battlefield. You have the enemy and his army of worldly musicians and then you have God and His army of spiritual musicians. Which side are you going to support in the war? When I first started walking with the Lord, I thought, "I don't see anything wrong with worldly music!" Then I started listening to spiritual music and I couldn't get enough. I stopped listening to worldly music and my walk with the Lord, became much better! Now when I listen to worldly music, I see the depression that it brings. Music is just one of many battlefields. There are even worldly musicians that purposely sneak the message of Satan, into their music. You have to be careful what you listen to!
Don't think that the only spiritual music there is, is old time Gospel music. I listen to a variety of spiritual music. There is rock, country and all other kinds of praise music. The spiritual musicians are very talented as well, but they get over looked because no one will give them a chance.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us close to you and give us a song of praise and deliverance. May we have a desire to hear your music and not the world's. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
