Show It!
Sunday's Devotion (4-25-04)
"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Luke 6:46 (KJV)
This is one of my favorite scriptures to write about. These scriptures speak to us all! From time to time, we disobey and while we disobey we call Jesus, "Lord!" or we'll do it after we're done rebelling. It means nothing to call Jesus, "Lord" if we do not also show that He is our Lord! The Lord, has given us commandments in His Word and many of us do not follow those commandments, but we still say, "Jesus, is my Lord!" Jesus is Lord and that is a good thing to say, but take in mind that it means nothing, if you do not obey Him! If you do not obey Him, you're lying when you say, "Jesus, is my Lord!" I'm not telling you to stop calling Jesus, Lord, but what I'm telling you is to stop obeying yourself and obey the Lord!
The sad thing is that not everyone who call Jesus, "Lord" will enter into God's Kingdom. Why? Because it is just like I said, you must obey the Lord! A servant is in submission to his or her lord. Just like a dog is in submission to it's master. Let us think what a dog might say if he could speak our language. If the dog doesn't listen to his owner or in this case his master, then the dog isn't going to say, "Master!" The dog would be more likely to say, "You're not my master! I don't listen to you!" Each and every time we disobey the Lord, we in many ways are saying the something that the disobedient dog says. We're saying in our hearts, "Jesus, isn't my Lord, because I do not obey Him!"
We with our very existence can do more than speak the words, "Jesus, is my Lord!" We can show that Jesus, is our Lord! When people see us obey Jesus, then they also know that Jesus, is our Lord. We need to speak the words too, but when we speak the words, we shouldn't lie about it! Read the Word of God, learn His commandments and obey them! Those are three easy steps to making Jesus, Lord, of your life! The only way to be saved is if Jesus, is your Lord! Is He? Go ahead and say it, but more importantly show it!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to obey your Word and to truly be able to say, "Jesus, is the Lord of my life!" Bring us close to you, Lord. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
