Why Are You Afraid?
Friday's Devotion (4-23-04)
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Many followers of Christ, live in fear. They fear so much, but they don't have to! God, is with you wherever you go. Since God, is with you, why should you be afraid? If you have a problem with your neighbor, would you be afraid to go to his house if you had the police with you and on your side? Of course you wouldn't be. With that being said, why should you be afraid to go anywhere or to face anything, when God, is on your side? God, is greater than the police, the president and everyone else in this world or out of it! With that in mind, isn't it kind of silly to be afraid? God, is our provider and protector. Nothing can happen that God, doesn't want to happen. If it is death that you fear, you shouldn't! Jesus Christ, already defeated that opponent! Why are you afraid? I must ask myself that question too, because I can not say that I don't fear from time to time.
Fear is one of the greatest tools of the enemy. The enemy wants to make you fear to prevent you from doing something. If you're about to go teach the Word of God, somewhere then the enemy is going to try and make you scared. He is going to try and make you scared of anything and everything, just to prevent you from doing God's will! The enemy, makes us fear because he himself is scared. He is scared that if we don't back out of doing what we're going to do, we might save many souls. If you're a person afraid to even leave your home, then the enemy is scared that if you walk out your front door, you might make a big difference in the world! Get up and go outside and the face the world! Make the enemy even more scared, because he should be scared and you shouldn't be scared! You have God, on your side! Why are you afraid?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us not to fear and help us to do what you want us to do. Don't even let us think twice about the lies that the enemy is telling us to prevent us from doing your will. Please bring us close to you and give us great faith. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
