Faith or Fear?
Friday's Devotion (4-16-04)
"By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace." Hebrews 11:31 (KJV)
Some of us have a hard time believing that we can be saved. We think that our sin, is too great to be covered, but that is not true! Your sin, can be covered through faith! A harlot was kept from perishing through faith and if God, will prevent a harlot who believes from perishing, will He not do the same for you? All you have to do is believe.
I want to point one thing out here though. I always tell you, "If you have faith, then you will show it with your actions and not just speak it!" Notice this part of the scripture shows us a work that the harlot did. This work was out of faith. It says, "...when she had received the spies with peace." So you know what that means? If you pray for something you need to take bold steps, as if you're going to get what you prayed for. If you're afraid to drive and you pray about it, what faith would you be showing if you ended up not driving the car? If you have faith that God, will protect you and others around you, then you will start that car and drive! If you do not have faith, then you will just stay home and continue to fear driving.
Do you have faith? You may be able to tell by some of your actions. Do you keep yourself from doing certain things out of fear? Are you afraid that God, will not protect you? All of us believers have some faith or else we wouldn't even call ourselves, "Believers", but what do you do with your faith? Do you let it go to waste or do you put it to action? We can feel like we have absolutely no faith sometimes, because we're living in so much fear! I brought this up once before, but it won't hurt to do it again. I once had a dream and I heard this saying, "Fear is believing Satan and faith is believing God!" Which will you believe? Are you going to believe a liar who puts fear into you or are you going to believe God? Is there a person you know who lies so often, that you never believe a word he says? Well look at it this way: All lies originate from the father of lies (Satan). So, if you're going to believe the lies of the enemy, you might as well believe the person you refuse to believe. Everything that Satan, says is a lie!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us closer to you and help us to believe in you and not the lies of the enemy. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
