Gather Now!
Wednesday's Devotion (4-14-04)
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?" Proverbs 6:6-9 (KJV)
We as followers should really consider the way of the ant. The ant gathers her food early, so she will not have want later on. We should be like the ant in that manner. We should gather riches in Heaven, early. We should get those riches in Heaven now, so we have something when we die. If we don't have any good works through faith, then when we go, we will have nothing and we will not make it into God's Kingdom. Many of us are sleeping and not doing any works for the Lord or anything. We see people in need and we say, "I'll help them later" or we say, "Forget them!" If we wait until later to help others and to do good works for the Lord, then we are going to be too late! If we continue to push things off, we will never get the chance to do the things that we need to do!
When it is time for me to take out our garbage, if I push it off until morning, then the trash man, would already have come and I would've been too late! It is the same way with good works. If you push off good works for another day, week, month or whatever you're going to end up not being able to do it, at all!
Lets say that I see a poor man on the street and I tell him, "I'll be back to help you, tomorrow!" Tomorrow comes around and either I am dead or the poor man is dead. If one of us is dead, then I am unable to help that person and it is too late!
Gather your riches in Heaven now and don't wait another minute! Don't be a sluggard! Wake up and look around. There are plenty of people in need of help and each person you help is more treasure put aside for you in Heaven! If you don't gather now, then you won't have anything! Gather now!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to be wise and to start gathering now, before it is too late. Please bring us closer to you, Lord. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
